My Bio

Hi!  Welcome to my page!  My name is Mrs. Nina Shenenberger and I am a Reading Specialist at Larry J. Macaluso Elementary.  I taught 5th Grade Writing and Science at LJM for 2 years before becoming a reading specialist here. I knew that I wanted to be a teacher when I was in sixth grade.  I love working with students and I love learning!  I attended Messiah College for my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.  After teaching for several years, I wanted to be a reading specialist so I went to York College of Pennsylvania to receive my Master's in Reading and my Reading Specialist Certification.  I worked for York City School District for 13 years, gaining experiences in several grade levels as well as Literacy Coaching positions.  I am so excited to be here in Red Lion Area School District and am so excited to start another year here!

On a more personal note, I am a proud wife and mother!  My husband and I have 3 amazing children!  Our oldest is at the Junior High.  Our middle son attends Clearview  and our little girl will be soon be in school herself.  We love to be outside, playing sports, taking hikes, riding bikes, and just having fun.  I love to read in whatever spare time I can find and work outside in my flowerbeds and my garden.

Narrative-Writing-Checklist

Here is the checklist that I use to grade student's narrative pieces.  Students should have brought home their first writing piece earlier this week.  We will be writing one more and then turning in one for a final grade for the narrative writing unit. Questions, please ask!

Planet Mini Book Rubric

Here is the rubric for the project students handed in today.  I will hopefully have these graded and entered into Skyward over the next couple days.  Look for those grades and a copy of the rubric coming home with students so you can see their grades!  Again, any questions, please ask!  Thanks!

Narrative Writing Brain Book Rubric 1

Here is the first rubric for students and their writing journals for the beginning of the year.  We completed all these requirements in class with the exception of the homework entries.  These were glued in when the homework was completed.  This will hopefully help you understand the grades I put in this past weekend.  Any questions, please ask!
