Mr. Jason Munchel » Bio

Bio

Mr. Jason Munchel was born and raised in York County and has been teaching sixth grade in the Red Lion Area School District for the past 19 years. He currently is educating students at Larry J.Macaluso Elementary School with a focus on math and science exploration. Mr. Munchel earned a Bachelor's Degree in English Writing from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Duquesne University, and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Temple University.
 
Mr.Munchel enjoys reading and spending time outdoors with his wife and two children.

This week in math we will be concluding Unit 1 and will be learning about finding fractions between fractions, opposites of numbers, and plotting points on a coordinate grid. In science we are learning about the types and characteristics of energy in our world. The class has been learning about energy using Google classroom and this week we will explore the concepts of kinetic and potential energy further. In science we wrapping up our stories using Google classroom. These stories are due tomorrow. In addition students were presented with a science and technology challenge last week, if they decided to take the challenge it will need to be submitted by Friday.  I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing 3-day weekend. This week in math class we will continue to learn about data collection and how to use data landmarks such as mean, median, and mode to summarize and draw conclusions. In science we are continuing to learn about data collection and observation. We will use this week to write a creative story about the rocks that we have been observing and collecting data on in class. We had a great first week of school learning about each other, thinking, and problem solving. This week in math class we will begin learning about statistical questions as well as how to read and interpret data. We will have our first math quiz on Friday and everyone will be permitted to use all of the resources that are available to them during the quiz. The following math assignments are planned for this week:
